H.264, the high-efficient standard for video compression. Compared with previous standards, the data rate will be reduced by half at the same quality. As opposed to customary MPEG-4 standard, it is thus possible to double the recording time with the same hard disk size.

The digital recorder from the DMR-180SET uses a highly efficient processor technology for the H.264 compression method.
